Skywatch Friday

This photo was taken on a trip to Lake Eyre in the far north of South Australia. It is a picture of the nest of the magnificent  Wedge Tailed Eagle , the largest predator bird in Australia. Sadly for many years these beautiful birds were hunted and destroyed by farmers who believed the eagles were killing the young lambs and calves.  Fortunately the species is now protected, although destruction still continues in some areas.

The sky looks good too.

  5. Have to admit I did not take the eagle shots. I added them to show you all what our "Wedgies" look like.
